Universal Palindrome Day! [Sundae #157]

Hi ,Did you notice today is the 2nd of February 2020 and the date is a palindrome in any format it can be written? It's a Universal Palindrome Day!Lots of good, sad, and interesting stuff going on this week, including the magistral end to one of the best TV sitcoms ever, The Good Place. If you haven't watched it at all you're in for a treat. I watched the beautiful end with teary eyes.I also had watery eyes watching this 3 minute long tribute video to now diseased Monty Python member Terry J, In Loving Memory. My friend James Whatley's always excellent Five Things on Friday email newsletter pointed me to this bloody brilliant long post over on Martin Weigel's blog. It's fascinating, and deals with points debunking ideas of brands with purpose, or that we can save the world with our purchases. Highly recommended read.I attended one of the "The Night Of Ideas" launch events on Thursday, at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a magnificent building - the evening was worth it just for the chance of walking inside, and also an opportunity to find out more about the work of three young environment activists in a panel discussion:- Hilda Flavia Nakabuye from Uganda, founder of Fridays for Future Uganda- Kristin Rodrigo, Zoologist and Canadian Ambassador of Young Reporters for the Environment- Nathan Méténier, Youth Climate Advocate and External Relations Officer for Youth Environment EuropeIt was an interesting conversation, though couldn't help but feel it was a little filtered by political correctness in a diplomatic building. Plus, I generally find a panel discussion is interesting when the topic and panelists have different perspectives to bring. In this case given the pretty safe questions from the moderator and the fact the panelists generally agree on the fact something needs to be done now to improve the world's climate and environment, rendered the discussion somewhat limited. Still worthwhile though.I'm a little behind with my podcast episode editing so I'll get around to that, and about to head over to play a tabletop roleplaying game of Fiasco, should be fun!Last but not least, a friend replied to last week's newsletter and had me notice I made a mistake in the link to the article about play from an animal behavior field researcher, published in Scientific American Blogs, here is is, sorry about the mistake: So You Think You Know Why Animals Play...Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Thanks,Willem
