Troubling Facebook Troubles [Sundae #132]

Hey ,It's Avengers Endgame opening weekend! I went to see it on Friday, it's phenomenal!! Remember friends, #DontSpoilTheEndgame! Go see it! This week on the podcast, I talk about design and branding with Jim Pietruszysnki, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Soulsight, a branding agency in Chicago."The brands and products we create define who we are as a culture today. If we were to go and dig up how life was like 50 years ago or a 100 years ago, what do you look at? People's trash. You look at the objects they were using to cook with, or clean with. What we're doing today is really defining the needs, the values, the purpose, and the ethics of what our culture is defined as.""I like to say a brand is an artefact of a moment in time, and some brands can last a hundred, or two hundred years but they also evolve to stay relevant."

- Jim PietruszysnkiQuick one this week, need to get this out of the door!

Cheers,Willem

Weekly Combo Two or three flavours, interesting separately, fascinating together

The Trouble with Facebook (Sam Harris Making Sense Podcast with Roger Mc Namee, 1h 53 min listen) This is just a mind-blowing listen, I really want to read Roger Mc Namee's book too (Zucked: Waking Up To The Facebook Catastrophe). It's absolutely terrifying, now I'm seriously thinking it might be time to seriously slow down my usage or even cancel my Facebook account... Maybe. And if you want to be even more scared, this account of the past 15 months of Facebook on WIRED is a must read too: 15 Months of Fresh Hell Inside Facebook (thanks to my friend James and his always excellent 5 Things on Friday newsletter for that story).
