Playing with the Creative Briefing [Sundae #128]

Hey ,Another week has flown by! Mine was great, how was yours? Hit the reply button and tell me all about it, I'd love to hear from you!I published a new episode of the podcast, this excellent conversation with Strategy Consultant Julian Cole (previously Head of Comms Planning for ad agencies BBDO and BBH in New York). We talked about his new theory about excellent in nightmare situations and his travels around central Asia, among other things. Listen to it here:
Remember to give the show a 5* rating and review on iTunes / Apple Podcasts! I recorded three more episodes this week that I need to get on with editing, had some great conversations with creative industry acquaintances in Chicago, went to a lovely vocal jazz concert, watched the mind blowing awesome new Ricky Gervais After Life series on Netflix, and have been reading the excellent award-winning Criminal graphic novel by Ed Brubaker & Sean Phillips.I also just wrote and published a post on my blog about Playing with the Creative Briefing. Inspired by the long post about the characteristics of play by Pr. Peter Gray in Psychology Today. He details five:
Play is self-chosen and self-directed; players are always free to quit.
Play is activity in which means are more valued than ends.
Play is guided by mental rules.
Play is non-literal, imaginative, marked off in some way from reality.
Play involves an active, alert, but non-stressed frame of mind.
Inspired by those, I developed four areas of suggestions to bring play to the creative briefing process:
Assume Play Starts With You
(Ready) Set Play Reminders
Play With The Delivery
Invite Others To Play Along
You can read the whole post here. I'd love to heard what you think of it!On to the weekly combo!CheersWillem
