Animals & Algorithms [Ice Cream Sundae]

Hi ,While it started seriously snowing in Chicago, I'm writing this in Park City, Utah, I'm out skiing this weekend which of course is awesome but there is really not a lit of snow, which is less awesome. Still, it's great to be out all day and it's great practice!! Seriously, people living here told me it's some of the worst conditions in years. It hasn't snowed in ten days, the runs have ice, dirt, roots, rocks, all the stuff you're looking for when skiing or snowboarding. But hey, that's all first world problems, I'm still having a blast! And on another new experience, I'm writing this watching the SuperBowl with a bunch of people, first time watching that here in the US!Now, on to the topic for the week - next week I'll probably mention the SuperBowl ads.CheersWillem

Weekly Combo Two or three flavours, interesting separately, fascinating together
Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow, by Pr. Yuval Noah Harari (book)I finished reading another book! This is the bomb. I've been talking about it with everyone willing to listen. Read it. I loved Sapiens, Homo Deus is equally awesome and poses tons of questions on the back of it, opens up avenues of thought I and many others of course had or have in mind but the way it's all pulled together is just brilliant. Highly recommended. You might wonder what it is. In short, the author is a History Professor / Phd. In his first book he tackles looking at Homo Sapiens as a species from a macro-history perspective. He finishes that book with where we are at today, this second book picks up the largest trends he can observe, and thoughts about the most likely possibilities the author sees for where the human species is going. Here is a review in The Guardian, if you'd like to read about it some more.Old Spice Ran a Baffling Ad, entirely in French, on the Grammys (Adweek, 1 min video / 3 min read)
quirky enough choices to mention, and interesting background to it. Is there a link between the two links? Now I write this I'm not so sure. But the main takeaway is I recommend Homo Deus, and there was an entertaining Old Spice ad in French.
