Best of the past week
Hey , Express writing of this week's Sundae, I've had a lot going on in the past week and over the weekend though I still want to publish this on time so I'm speed writing it. Big news this week is a crazy new initiative I came up with. You get a little more context here, I'm assuming you're following previous newsletters and so you probably know I'm in a course in Los Angeles called Partnership Explorations. The last course weekend was awesome. One of my assignments for the next weekend in November is to do something I've never done before every week. I've also mentioned that I've been dating and friends of mine have been telling me for the past months that I should write the famous "list" of everything I'm looking for in a woman. So I did that this week. And then I was looking at the list and thought "now what?"Well I may not have an amazing track record of long term relationships but I like to think to I'm good at job searching and online marketing. What if I thought about looking for the right partner like a job search? All my info and photos are already online on various sites anyways, including dating ones. I'm pretty bored of random dating and online dating sites. The last couple of women I dated and liked unfortunately didn't work out. So I thought I'd take this whole "soul mate list" to another level and make a personal search campaign.I came up with this website I put together yesterday: Willem's Wonder Woman. Please check it out and share it with friends if you enjoy please! It's all meant in good fun by the way, I'm curious to see what happens out of it, and if anything I'm feeling more confident about who I'm after (even though the website idea might and may actually be bonkers for a lot of people and may well not result in any dates I'm having fun with it). No risk, no reward as they say!By the way, it's the first time I use Squarespace to make a website and even though I keep hearing ads for them on all the podcasts I listen to, it is actually a fantastic service to put a website together pretty fast.

In the news
I think the big news this week is of course the U.S. Presidential debate. That I haven't followed whatsoever so I'm not going to comment. The only thing I managed to catch up with is John Oliver's Last Week Tonight episode from last Sunday in which he summed up all the scandals for both candidates. The main video isn't officially published but this one has a short version of the segment if you'd like to check it out.

What's sticky in the communications industry?
Again, I haven't kept in touch with the industry news this week.Instead I've been busy at work with rehab so I'm going to unashamedly plug my employer this week. The previous week one of our projects with Google went live during the Global Citizen Festival in New York, an announcement for the latest initiative of Google's Made with Code project introduced on stage by Priyanka Chopra followed by a song by Ellie Goulding. Made with Code is an initiative to encourage more young girls to learn code and pursue careers in science / computer science. We helped manage multiple agencies partners working on different deliverables for the project and were in charge of the overall creative direction for this "Change is Made with Code" new initiative, encouraging girls to assemble messages of the positive change they want to see in world and share them online.Other than that, we are working on exciting and secret new projects with both Google and new clients I can't really talk about just yet. We have a bunch of exciting potential new business clients in the pipelines too.
Oh and like Facebook I almost forgot this tiny detail. Facebook says:

What's going on in gaming?
The only thing I've managed to follow in the world of gaming over the past couple of weeks is the unfortunate seeming debacle over the highly anticiated indie video game No Man's Sky. A game that everybody was going crazy about, in which one can go forth and explore a gigantic universe, colonise planets and all sorts of stuff I'm not too sure about. It was only a project from a tiny independent studio and it got extremely overhyped. So much so that it was released, loads of people started playing and very quickly complaining that it wasn't what they expected. Now it's blown up so much the Advertising Standards Authority is actually launching an investigation to find out if the game made false advertising and even Sony's President is making comments about this (the game is supported by Sony Playstation). That last part sounds a little like scapegoating a tiny indie studio to save face for Sony. In the meantime the issue is that the game creators have been pretty much completely silent about the whole thing.I haven't had time to stop and consider the implications of the news just yet so I'm just reporting for now. I might make another comment about this next week.

What else is interesting this week?
I went to see the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra play a selection of film scores composed by John Williams at the Royal Albert Hall yesterday night, it was heaps of fun! At first I thought it was a little strange to be listening to film themes but then I got into it and the selection covered a lot of his career and interestingly allowed me to have a perspective about the his tone, style and really through that a lot of Spielberg's given they worked together so often - and finally really get an overview of the epic music of so many Hollywood blockbusters of the past 40 years! My highlights: Fiddler on the Roof, Jurassic Park (the RPO playing it last year) and of course they finished with the main Star Wars theme. And then by standing ovation and popular demand the came back for an encore and played the Imperial March (this recording from 2014). Awesome evening. And err... Have I mentioned I made and published a new website?Check it out! Willem's Wonder Woman That’s about it for this week, have a great Sunday! Please go ahead and share this with friends if you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading! Best, Willem
